One of the biggest challenges IELTS students face isn't grammar, vocabulary, or pronunciation. It's practice.
A student might spend two hours a week in class. That's valuable time, but it leaves 166 hours each week when they aren't speaking English.
Most students know they need more speaking practice. They watch videos, read sample answers, and memorize vocabulary lists. But speaking is different. Speaking requires feedback.
If a student practices incorrectly for months, they can end up reinforcing the very habits they're trying to fix.
As teachers, we can't be available 24/7. Nor should we be.
So here's the question I've been thinking about lately:
How can IELTS students get meaningful speaking practice and feedback when their teacher isn't there?
I'd be interested to hear how other teachers are approaching this challenge.
